From the Christopher Phillips Rare Seed Collection R8--Release #8 on October 29, 2015 --- This is one of three very famous Capsicum annuum strains from Oaxaca, Mexico used often for creating delicious mole sauces. The trinity of varieties include Chilhaucle Amarillo, Chilhaucle Negro, and Chilhacule Rojo. These varieties have a very thick skin and are best used roasted / peeled for maximum flavor. Chilhaucle Negro is often said to have a flavor resembling cocoa / coffee. All three of the Chilhaucle strains are currently available under Christopher's collection, along with many other Mexican heirloom varieties.
